Upward Basketball

Upward is a first-class sports experience for children that emphasizes healthy competition, sportsmanship, skills building and fun versus the “win-at-all-costs” mentality associated with many sports leagues. On top of equipping children with sport fundamentals needed to participate at the next level, some unique features to Upward are:

Each child is evaluated before the team selection process to create balanced teams that are competitive.
Upward utilizes a unique substitution system which guarantees every child equal playing time.
Upward aims to teach both athletic skill as well as values for success on and off the playing field/court.
Upward prioritizes a family friendly schedule by conducting one-hour practices and games each week.
With supportive coaches and a positive sports environment, Upward is designed to bring out “the winner” in every child regardless of the game’s score.

2010 UPWARD Basketball registration is NOW OPEN!

First Baptist Church Sebring Church is now accepting registration for its Upward Basketball league, a fun and exciting sports league for boys and girls (K5 through eighth grade).

The eight-game season will open Saturday, January 30th and run through Saturday, March 20th. Players will also have a weekly one hour practice. All games and practices will be held at the First Baptist Church Sebring Recreation Outreach Center (The ROC).

How to register:

Pick up a form at the FBC Sebring Church office located at 200 East Center Street or download one here.

Return form and payment to the FBC Church office. The early registration cost per child is $65. After November 28^th the cost is $75. Each player will receive a reversible basketball jersey, a basketball t-shirt, a car magnet, a music CD, a recognition award at each game and end-of season award.

Come to ONE of the player evaluation nights at the FBC Sebring Recreation Outreach Center located across from the Wachovia Bank drive thru on North Pine Street. Players and parents should attend one of these evaluation nights. Evaluations include sizing for jerseys, parent information, and skill evaluations to ensure equal and competitive teams.

b. December 14^th from 5 – 8 PM

c. December 17^th from 5 – 8 PM

The first week of practice begins January 4, 2010. Your coach will contact you to tell you which night to come to practice.
